Dirty South Wins First Hockey Title

Congrats to Paulie on winning his first hockey title in his first ever season of playing fantasy hockey! I give him a ton of credit - he got way into the sport, was tracking every day, was sending long voice message recaps of his team's performance every day and it totally paid off. He put in the time and effort of a champion and he proved victorious. Paul prevented Jordan from a 3 peat in the Hand Sanitizer league and won the first hockey title as a part of our Triple Crown fantasy leagues.

I can't stand giving Covid an ounce of recognition in this space but as future generations look back at this season, it has to be noted that Jordan's team was hilariously decimated by Covid postponements during the championship week. I know Paul would have loved to play Jordan at his best but we've been saying all along that the season that was played during these unprecedented times IS the season that was played. No excuses, no asterisks. 

Of further note - Paul has now made FIVE STRAIGHT fantasy championship appearances across all the Triple Crown sports: Basketball runner-up in 2020, Baseball champion in 2020, Football runner-up in 2020, Hockey champion in 2021, and Basketball runner-up in 2021. 

We've had some good individual runs in our leagues, but nothing like THIS.

He and I've always said "Just make the playoffs and anything can happen. Sometimes you lose a title you were supposed to win and sometimes you will win a title you didn't deserve."

Kudos to Paul on this epic run of sustained greatness. His Triple Crown HOF tracking bumps up to 25 seasons, 6 championships, and 7 division titles.

Other teams have gone "all in" to win in years past, but this may be the best we have seen in recent years. Ian was at a crossroads. Throwing caution to the wind he was one of the first teams to "buy" to try and make a run. And boy is he running. The questionable starting of Tua over Ben didn't even matter (-21 points). The McCaffery injury didn't matter (will he get healthy in time for the Epic X playoffs?). Ekeler is still on IR and no Chargers running back has grabbed that role. He will be a beast when he returns. Julio Jones and Jamison Crowder were on bye weeks. It didn't matter. Epic X Week 12 Power Rankings

B: On Sunday I got sick and tested positive for COVID. It’s been like the flu for me. Life and work have been a lot to navigate - but I am feeling better today. This is the scoring week that his fellow playoff contenders want to see. Good. But not great. Paul is going to have to land on on a lineup. Does Montgomery sit? Welcome to Triple Crown Fantasy Sports

A bunch of us have been playing fantasy sports together for damn near the past decade. I sent out a survey back in the fall just to make sure everyone is still having fun - seems like we are. I'm ready to take it all to the next level. Paul has always referred to the leagues that I started - Rebound League for basketball, the Epic X for football, and the Senior Circuit League (SCL) for baseball - as the "Josh Leagues."
